| The Home Page The home page is the main page you will arrive at every time you visit The Wander Years. From there, you can get to any part of the site. It is also the place where I will always let you know what's happening and what's new. It's the place to be! The Link A "link" is anything on the screen you can click on, which will take you to another page. Usually, links are underlined and/or a different colour. Another way to spot one, is your mouse pointer will turn to a little hand when moved over a link. Remember, this is not always text, it could be a photo or just about anything on the screen. For example, the text at top left of this page are all links and are self explanetry as to where they will take you. These basic essentials will appear on all of my main pages. This means you can move around the website easily without having to return to the home page every time. Any links to external websites will usually open up a new window. Add to "my favourites" - what in the hell is that all about? Adding this or any site to your favourites is a good way to get back next time. I have provided a link to do this for you, on the bottom of the home page. Just click that, then ok. This simply stores the address of the Wander Years. Next time you connect - just click on favourites along the top of your browser , a box will appear at left. Double click on what you want and it'll take you there! So, you love my site so much that you want to make it your Home Page? Making this or any site your homepage means each time you connect to the net your computer will go straight to that page. So, as with "add to favourites" above, I've provided an automated link also on the homepage. Just click it, then ok - and that's it. This now means every time you log on to the net, this website will automatically come up first! Don't worry, nothing is permanent, you can change it when you get bored of me. Remember, when you are on any website now, to visit this site all you have to do is either open a new window, or click on "home" (the little house) at the top of your browser. Good eh? Saving images to your computer If you see any images you would like to use, go ahead and use them. If you are using them on your own website, I'd appreciate some reference or link to the wander years. To save them to your computer, simply right click the image and select save picture as... This will bring up a box where you can choose where to put this image. Usually the default location would be in "my pictures". Then just click on save - and you've got it! You can also use images as a background on your desktop, if you so desire. Again, right click and select set as background, that's all there is to it. Most of my images I post up along the way will be reduced to save on storage and loading times. If there is a particular image you love, feel free to email me and I will endevour to send you the full sized version. Most of my full size digital images are around 600kb in size. How best to view the Wander Years I have had a few reports from people who are experiencing problems on some pages with overlapping text. I am working on this, but the bottom line is all computers & systems vary so I have to cater to the masses. The vast majority of viewers are using Internet Explorer (IE) browsers version 6.0 and above with a screen resolution of 800 x 600. This is also the setup I used to build this site, and hell, it looks fine to me! High resolution viewers should just reduce window size to fit - I only recently learnt about centering pages, its too much work to add now. Sorry! Text size should be set to "medium". You can change the size of text your browser displays by clicking "view" then "text size" then "medium". |
