Before reaching the main north lake, we found the stations went right onto the salt plains of south lake. This old fence line continued over the horizon.
The end of my journey took an unusual turn - I ended up teaming up with my mate Matt, and taking off into the Australian outback for a month. I won the chance to write for travel company WorldNomads.
